Taking a breather with the blog

Published by Kim at 8:09 am under Weddings

This has been one of our busiest weekends this year, despite the fact that we’re near the end of the wedding season.

Friday’s wedding was in St. John’s – Carla and Alix were wed at the Salvation Army Church on Adams Avenue.

Yum! Shrooms!.

Saturday’s wedding was in Trinity – that one I typed about earlier last week that took place in a very old church. The atmosphere throughout the day was from another time – Trinity is a beautiful, historic little community, and as we’d go from one location to another we began to appreciate more and more the opportunity to cover Andrea and Dan’s day. Andrea had everything planned perfectly, from the location of an old inn where she prepared for the service, right down to the simple yet perfect fiddle music that accented the service and reception.

After attending so many weddings this year, we’ve been coming up with tips for planning – a list of do’s and don’ts for your wedding day if you will.

For example, autumn weddings – the colours are so nice. However, this is a particularly good idea if you’re not in the city. As we drove out to Trinity on Saturday, we noticed how the landscape changed along the way. Currently, the leaves are starting to turn colour in St. John’s, but they’re further along once you leave the Avalon Peninsula. And of course, as anyone who has driven the Trans Canada out of St. John’s will tell you, there are more deciduous trees once you hit Clarenville, which makes things more interesting and colourful. Another good tip for a fall wedding in Newfoundland – shawls.

I’ll post more later. We had a modeling shoot yesterday, will be shooting the newly crowned Miss Newfoundland and Labrador today, and then will be photographing a newborn infant this evening.
