Hole in one

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

From Cape Spear yesterday evening. It was pretty rough…

The sea was angry, then my battery ran out. I admit - I cursed.

Reminds me of that famous quote: “The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli.”

More tomorrow.

On the rocks

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

Every time I hear the question “Do you have any iceburg pictures?” I roll my eyes.

Taking a picture of an iceburg is no more original than taking a picture of a sunset or a flower. In fact, I have purposefully stayed away from iceburg shots, perhaps in fear that the word “hack” would somehow be used in the same sentence with my name.

Despite that, when I heard that there was a big one just outside the harbour I though I’d check it out. I have to admit, it sure was purdy. The texture, colour and asymmetry of it’s half fallen structure did something for me.

Iceburg from Blackhead

I’m grateful for the experience that I’ve gained through shooting in a photo journalistic style – it teaches you to not only look at the “main attraction”, but also at anything surrounding it. Often, attentions are so completely focused on the subject that people hardly notice anyone shooting. So with several people taking pictures, I turned to focus on them.

The crowd is in awe!

I’m not sure if I could allow myself to take another iceburg picture though. Ugh, I feel kinda dirty – think I’m gonna go take a shower.
