A few shots from my travels

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

No time for explanations right now, but I’ve been out-of-town for a bit. Here’s a few shots…

Shake it like a polaroid picture

Published by Kim under Weddings

I’m not sure why, but stuffed chicken breast, cheap wine and “I’m bringing sexy back” seems to equal
a damn good time.

I haven’t seen this many dancing shirtless men since the last time I was at The Zone.

I’ve also learned that women are much worse then men when it comes to lude dancing. Almost immediately they’ll go for the buttons, start pulling off shirts - they’ll even tear ties off with their teeth. Yikes.

Bowring Park is boring

Published by Kim under Weddings

Don’t get me wrong - Bowring Park is great for wedding pictures.

But if you consider yourself “non-traditional”, just say no.

That’s what Erin and Craig did.  Now, as far as non-traditional goes, they’re pretty advanced.  They got married on Sunday… in the morning… on the beach.  Just before that, we met them at Signal Hill at 9am sharp.  We took a run around to some of the typical places, but after that was out-of-the-way, we stopped on Water Street and popped into a pub.  And that’s when the pictures started to get interesting.

Honestly, I mean if the place you’ve selected for wedding pics already has the grass trampled by the couple that just left, you have to ask yourself “Is this what I want?”.  As your photographers, we’re more than willing to try something new.  This has actually happened to us several times lately - our usual haunts have caught on, so we’re moving on.

The point is this - if you consider yourself non-traditional, consider at least one non-traditional spot.

Sarah and Jon

Published by Kim under Weddings

While shooting a wedding a few weeks ago, we were approached by another recently wed couple who had apparently been rained out at their own wedding a few weeks before.  They’d not managed to get any outdoor shots on the big day, so the bride asked if we could do a few for them. We got together a couple weeks later on a Sunday evening to shoot Sarah and Jon.

We tell couples all the time that the best way to look relaxed and happy in your pictures is to actually be relaxed and happy - you’re not professional models after all. That’s why a pre or post-wedding shoot for the couple is such a great idea - there’s no stress whatsoever, and they don’t have to “block out” what’s going on around them to look relaxed, as is often the case on a hectic wedding day. And perhaps just as important, there are no expectations from well meaning family members for what is (or is not) “appropriate”.
