Land and Sea

Published by Kim under Shoebox,Travel

I’ve been a little neglectful in the word department these past few days but having the energy to write something after chasing after my parents all day in near 30 degree heat is all but killing me. Those guys sure can move! Now I’m wondering what the hell is wrong with me… how can two people over twice my age kick my ass?

Southern Florida

Anyway, we departed yesterday, just the minion and myself, to visit the Keys at America’s most southerly tip. We’ll be “roughing it” – doing a bit of tent camping. Granted, we’ll be “camping” on the beach, with a heated pool, wireless Internet and a marina from which you can take a sunset cruise.

I’m looking forward to visiting Hemingway House and viewing some of the unique Key West architecture.

Fishing in Gulf Coast Florida

Published by Kim under Travel

My father kept saying how cold it was here yesterday… 20C. Whatever.

Fishing in Fort de Soto Park

Those shots were taken in Fort de Soto Park, just south of St. Petersburg. Jut off the pier, the dolphins were competing with those fishing for the catch of the day.

Stop Over

Published by Kim under Travel

I’ve gotten about two hours sleep in the last two days, and I’m literally falling asleep as I type this.

Clint does Dallas

Those are a few shots from a stop over today in Toronto International. I asked “Clint” there (top left) to pose for a picture or two… turns out he was heading to Dallas to direct a TV commercial.

It was his first time wearing the hat, and his first time heading to Dallas – pretty convincing.

BRB

Published by Kim under Travel

We’re taking off to a warmer climate for a bit. That’s not much of a clue I know… a destination being warmer is pretty much a given. So we’ve ruled out Siberia.

On the beachWhile researching this latest trip I realized something invaluable… no mater where you go, with a bit of planning, you have the ability to mold it into a great vacation. This will certainly be nothing exotic, but I hope we’ll manage to get off the beaten path and avoid some tourist traps.

Naturally then, I’ll be taking a camera, and therefore you guys as well. For those of you up north… sorry – just crank up the heater, get really close to the screen and squint – you’ll never know the difference.

Posting frequency will be limited only by our ability to find a bit of wi-fi. Wireless is much more widespread compared to when we did our last photo road trip, so I don’t foresee any problems.

I took those shots last year btw while visiting another warm destination.

Check back later today to see what I found en route…

Downtown Shops V

Published by Kim under Documentary,Newfoundland

This time I visited Rosemill Antiques & Collectibles and The Vintage Shop. Technically, with these particular locations, I’m not sure they fit the theme (depends on your definition of downtown really), but once again the shop owners were super nice during my intrusion.
