Nelly Doug

During my trip to Lumsden last week I visited Nelly and her husband. I remember only one thing about Nelly from when I was a child - she would pinch my cheeks ’till my face hurt.

Creepy Dolls

Published by Kim under Family, Random Thoughts

It was about this time last year that my parents decided they had enough with work.

Now… when most people retire, they downsize. Not these guys. They upsized to what can be best described as a ski lodge. So why a bigger place? Trust me, there are certainly no grandkids on the way.

Anyway, me mudder decorated the ski lodge herself, and even this harsh critic has to admit - she did an outstanding job. Creepy Dolls The new place is not yet complete… they’re still doing work. This particular fact was not entirely known by my significant other while we planned the visit, but was abundantly clear immediately upon arrival. Randy spent the weekend “on loan” to my father - toiling on some household electrical and equipment hookups… good minion that he is.

But any praise of mom’s decorating has to be considered alongside the disclosure that there are creepy elements within the house. I don’t know how else to say this - there are little dolls around every corner - carefully selected to fit the mood. My first exposure to them was upon laying down my suitcase. There, meeting my gaze were those two… sitting back… plotting… Waiting For Me.

Oh God, I pray to thee this not be the start of a large collection.

DUD

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

Musgrave HarbourThese shots are from three “Road to the Shore” communities in central Newfoundland - Musgrave Harbour (top), Deadman’s Bay (middle) and Lumsden (bottom).

For nearly the entire day of driving - over ten hours - the sun shone sporadically while it rained lightly. Large, slow moving storm clouds seemed to follow us as we took the long way home to St. John’s from Gander, first via the Kittiwake Coast then via the Bonavista Peninsula.

This being the last “free” weekend before the busy summer months, we were indulging in a photo taking trip and mini vacation mixed with a bit of iceburg hunting. The payoff came late - at nearly 8:00pm as the sun was setting behind a cloud on the horizon… more on that later.

Deadman’s Bay

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

Nothing like a few days of driving, shooting and looking for unsecured wireless networks so I can keep up this insane posting schedule.

Those shots are from Deadman’s Bay.

Danielle SewardA sample from a shoot I did on Thursday with Danielle Seward, the former Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador.

She wanted to do a some “non-pageant” shots, so after spending a short time in the studio we popped around town a bit - including a stop at The Rooms. I got lots of great photos from the shoot, but have not yet had the time to edit them - more to come.

Non-Berg shots

…they were taken during my hunt. A woman was relaxing near Middle Cove while painting the scene. I found that and the fence a little more interesting at the time I guess.

First Date

Published by Kim under Weddings

A few photos from the wedding I’m currently editing. The couple had their first date at the Press & Bean in the Murray Premises, so we stopped by for a few shots.
