I finally gave in today and joined the heard – I spent a good three hours this morning hunting for ice bergs. I would usually be chained to my computer on a Monday, but not knowing when we’d get another day like this, I decided to relax and enjoy.
It’s important when shooting something like a berg to remember scale – if there’s nothing else in the shot, you can’t really tell if someone got creative with an ice-cube or if you’re looking at a three-story-tall slab. For me, unless I’ve got something else in there, I just don’t take the picture… too damn boring!
I topped off the day with a half hour wait in the Dairy Queen drive-thru. It was one of those situations where, every time I’d think about getting out of the car and walking in, the line would move. So I sat tight and watched as people got out of their cars, walked in, and walked back out smiling with their treats and drove away.
How dare they not be as lazy as me?

So after several weeks of 90% RDF, the sun broke yesterday. And again today. It’s supposed to be partly sunny tomorrow too – wuhoo. I might just go crazy and pack up the parka and hip wadders!
Anyway, we’re planning another road trip soon. Eventually I’ll have to break down and post some ice burg pictures.

I feel kinda like how this little guy looks right now. I just got home from shooting 10 hours straight and between my aching back and disfigured hand (the one that presses the shutter), I need a nap.
Hell, I need to go into hibernation.
Sometimes, shooting for 10 hours feels like 5 hours. Sometimes, it feels like 15. This time felt like 20.
Luckily, I have a personal masseur and plenty of pain killers.

Tonight: Rain mixed with drizzle. Amount 5 to 10 mm. Fog patches. Wind light except northeast 20 km/h along parts of the coast early this evening. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h overnight. Temperature rising to 8 by morning.
So says the Environment Canada Weather Service. That damn storm cloud icon is really starting to piss me off! Ugh.

Does anyone else remember that big yellow ball that use to show up at dawn on a semi-regular basis?
I’m getting depressed. All this rain and fog is turning me into a hermit.

Anyway I thought those pictures would help jog our memories… and perhaps provide a little artificial warmth.

This is one of a few shots that Randy paused on as he went thru one of last weeks weddings. He said “Wow… these shots are better than anything you posted over the last couple of days”.
Funny thing is, I tend to agree. I guess it’s true that you’re often not the best judge of your own work.
Something else I’ve been considering for awhile now is adding some sort of accompanying music to the wedding site, but there are a couple of significant problems with that idea.
First, it’s generally illegal to use most music in this way – it infringes on a little thing called copyright. If you visit the web site of a small local company and hear a song by a popular artist, then there’s a good chance the law is being broken. Not by you as the visitor, but by the company as an unlicensed user.
Another problem is, from my perspective as a Internet user and web site visitor, I absolutely hate it when some web site author arbitrarily decides that they’re going to re-size my browser and blare music at me.
So basically I wanted to incorporate music in a non-confrontational and legal way. It’s hard for me to find licensable music that I like though… Here’s an example of my first of many tries with shots by Jennifer and myself (from the same wedding that’s pictured above actually).

Holy crap… I almost forgot about the blog post. Here’s one from a wedding a few days ago.
I don’t want to break the posting streak now… yesterday was six months. WooHoo!
