Bell Island, Part IV

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

These are the last few shots from our Bell Island road trip.
Waiting for the Bell Island FerryI popped out around getting some pictures while the rest of the crew stayed in the car to contemplate lunch and wait for the return ferry crossing.

The Fotogeeks btw have a few good shots from that trip as well. Those guys tend to shoot more scenic stuff and jump out of the car to go running in that direction, while I often head toward any people that I see in the same area, so that site can give an interesting alternate perspective on the same trip.

-13 in Petty Harbour

Published by Kim under Newfoundland

I’m officially running out of places to explore on the weekly outings, as we’ve covered almost every crevice of the Avalon Peninsula. I’m looking for help… if you’re familiar with where we’ve been and know of any places we’ve missed, please pass them on.

So we headed to Petty Harbour this morning as the sun rose. It takes a little longer down there due to the fact that the community is tucked in the hills. We lingered outside in -13 temperatures as the sun s-l-o-w-l-y crested.

Pretty light in Petty Harbour

It was worth it. Believe it or not, there’s no freaky actions on the go here – that’s the way the sun was hitting. Just a slight bump on saturation.

Lobster traps

Published by Kim under Newfoundland,Random Thoughts

lobster traps, old barn, sea shell

Here are a few more shots from Sunday’s excursion, not exactly the most original subject matter, but I do like how the mussel shell looks against the grass… could be the “juxtaposition” perhaps. I’d write something clever but I’m just to damn tired.

Someone should have warned me that renovating 3600 square feet of 80 year old house would be such hard work… who knew? I’ve inhaled so much MDF dust today that I can’t swallow. Is it normal to spontaneously stop producing saliva?

Anyway, when it’s all done I’ll be sure to post pictures of the “project” that has taken a meager 5 years to complete. Well, almost complete.
