A few shots of the Lunar Eclipse…

And here’s proof that I’m lazy… I got these shots within ten minutes of each other, got sick of standing around, and went back inside. I actually thought about turning one red is PS – just so I could say that I followed through.

As promised, here are a few more shots from Leila’s shoot yesterday.
It was mentioned during the shoot how she resembled the actress Eva Longoria and it sorta became a running joke – I called her Eva through the rest of it. We had a really fun time and ran long into the next session.
Hair and makeup was done in studio by staff of The Head Room, LeMarchant Road.

I shot Leila Beaudoin today. She’ll be heading to Toronto in a few weeks to represent Newfoundland in the Miss World Canada Pageant.

The last few shots from Sunday’s Road Trip that took us as far as Ferryland.

We had another heavy snow fall last night in St. John’s. I was able to get out shooting again today – nice sunny weather and freshly fallen snow – couldn’t pass it up.
As usual, there’ll be some stuff from that over the next few days…
In other news… I’ve been posting daily for over a month now. Turns out it’s easy once you become accustom to it. I’ve decided to keep it up for as long as the visits continue to climb, so if you know someone who may enjoy looking at pictures of a cold but beautiful Newfoundland winter, send them this address!

Nothing more than blog fodder of course.
Turns out the power outage was due to a lightning strike during the storm – the entire Avalon Peninsula was without power for a few hours. I actually saw some flashes of light outside the window earlier that night… so I knew it was coming. No one believed me.
As you can see, we had all the candles out and they were heating the room nicely. In fact, and surprisingly, they were doing a better job than the electric baseboard heaters normally do. It was even a little disappointing when the power came back on at around 10:30pm.
Here’s a shot from around Terra Nova National Park on the Trans Canada Highway during the storm.
Some reports had estimated the snow fall in that area to about 40 centimeters. That shot is from my aunt – the drive to St. John’s from Lumsden took 12 hours – normally it takes just five!

So with the situation being that the weather sucks badly in Newfoundland at this time of year for any type of outdoor work, combined with the fact that my full time minion has abandoned his post during the low season, it’s a real treat to get outside shooting – and even moreso when the work is rewarding.

I love it when I’m out photographing some inadamant object and someone comes along for a chat, most often a property owner. This can be in a surprised or defensive demeanor, but that’s easily disarmed by the minion or, if he’s not present, with a flash of my bubbly personality. When they realize that the shots are just for a “keepsake” (as someone today put it), they’re fine with the idea, and often are willing to show me around or even do a quick “pose” (for lack of a better term).
PS. For those wondering, I’m trying to get back to the “once-a-day-picture-post in the early morning” thing during the next day or two. Three weeks and counting – woohoo!
